How to keep your skin looking cool (and protected) on and off the ski slopes Posted 15.02.2023 Skiing through blankets of white snow and feeling the fresh air breeze across your face - a trip to the ski slopes can do great things for the mind, body, and soul. Here comes the bad news…skiing can be super damaging to the skin. The combination of freezing cold temperatures, harsh winds, and sunlight, can lead to dryness and sun damage, completely changing your skin in just a matter of days. That’s something that we just can’t allow to happen! Lucky for you, we’ve put together the perfect ski skincare routine to keep your skin healthy and glow-y throughout your ski trip so all you need to focus on is whizzing down those slopes. Before hitting the slopes Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise The lack of moisturise in the air when you’re high up in the slopes due to cold, dry air, strips the skin of its natural oils, leaving it feeling tight and dry. Before starting the day and hitting the slopes, make sure to moisturise your face with a deeply hydrating moisturiser. Our Strawberry Seed Oil Moisturiser is a great option to take with you on your ski trip since it’s packed with hydrating ingredients. These include Hyaluronic Acid which has strong moisturising properties and draws moisture into the skin, Glycerin which keeps moisturise in the skin, and Strawberry Seed Oil which contains protecting antioxidants to shield the skin barrier. The eye area is prone to drying out and not retaining moisture as well as the rest of your face, so make sure to apply a hydrating eye cream such as our Green Tea Eye Cream after your moisturiser to give extra moisture. Slather on that SPF Don’t leave SPF behind on your ski trip! Since you’ll be at a higher altitude level, the sun is much stronger and snow can reflect UV rays, so SPF really is a non-negotiable skincare product to have in your ski skincare routine. The higher the SPF the better because it provides more protection from the sun, leaving you less prone to getting sun damage. We recommend an SPF no lower than 30. Aprés-Ski Double cleanse Your skincare routine after skiing all day is just as important as your routine before you hit the slopes. After all the harsh winds and sun hitting your face all day, it’s important to go in for a double cleanse. Our Apple AHA Foam Wash and Pineapple Milky Cleanser are the perfect double cleansing duo for this. Start off with our Foam Wash which contains apple amino acids to gently exfoliate any dead skin cells from the face. Follow up with our Milky Cleanser which leaves skin bright and smooth as well as feeling fresh and clean. A double cleansing routine also ensures that the skin is free from all the SPF that was applied throughout the day. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise…again After all that exposure on the slopes, your skin is dying for moisturisation. Opt for a thick and hydrating moisturiser such as our Strawberry Seed Oil Moisturiser which will put all that much needed hydration back into the skin. It also helps to soothe the skin thanks to the Aloe Vera that’s inside of it. Don’t forget about those under eyes too! Our Green Tea Eye Cream will depuff and hydrate the eye area.
